How can you score well for Credit?

Following my earlier posts about getting credit scored, here are a few things you can do to improve your score with various lenders.  And again, don’t worry if you don’t succeed with the first one, try another lender that suits your requirements…

First of all, if you’re not on the electoral roll, then get on it.  The sooner the majority of lenders and credit card companies can get you on the planet the better for your financial future.  If you’re not on the electoral roll then you’ll more than likely have no credit history either.  This is important, not only for those without a history, but it’s equally important for those with a bad credit history.  Credit card companies are less likely to take you on if you’ve never had credit before, simply because they cannot predict your financial behaviour.  You need to start out with a few small things and pay them on time everytime.  Eventually you’ll build up enough of a history to be accepted by a larger lender; and basically this is how it’s done.

Being married can upset the apple cart i’m afraid!  When you have a joint account, or even joint bills for that matter, you are scored with your partner.  So essentially it wouldn’t matter if you were as clean as a whistle, if you partner has a bad history of paying their debts on time you are both unlikely to obtain any credit in the future.
