It isn’t all about getting the lowest interest level possible you see, what it is about more and more these days is getting something back, and the credit card companies do their best to make it look as though they are actually giving something away for nothing. And of course the truth of the matter is they’re not giving anything away! Never has the phrase “no such thing as a free lunch” been more pertinent than when it comes to the credit card companies of today. What they are buying with their cashback “gifts” and their “free airmiles” is your trust and loyalty. It’s only the same as Pizza Hut giving your child a balloon. No-one is losing out here. As long as they offer you something in the way of a return from your loyalty then it’s money well spent in their eyes.
Now this is great for the consumer because all we have to do is pick the one that suits us best isn’t it? That means take the card that offers free airmiles if you’re a frequent flyer, or take the one that gives you money of CDs if you are the type that buys them a lot. But once you have chosen your card based on these qualities do not be afraid to change to something better if the bonuses are attractive enough; and remember that you don’t owe your credit card any loyalty whatsoever, no matter what they do for you.
