This is the problem in 90% of cases. People generally don’t think they’ll get a credit card so they go for the first one that comes through their letterbox or appears on a website or billboard (or wherever). This is obvioulsy the first time credit card hunters or those who apply for anything because they’ve been turned down before.
The trick (well not really a trick) is to take your time. What you really need to remember is that the credit card companies want you to have a credit card and they don’t want you to be able to pay off the balance at the end of the month; this is simply because they obviously make their money from the interest they charge you on the money they’ve lent you.
So when you get your head around the fact that if you are financially sound, credit card companies will want you. So take your time when you choose one, and pick one that suits you. You may decide that a cashback credit card is best for you. If you decide this then don’t go with any other credit card company. If you want airmiles then search for airmile and no other. This way you get what YOU want.
